The skinny: The Blue Demons open Big East play against one of the nation's eight unbeaten teams, though the Bearcats didn't exactly conquer an impressive non-conference slate. Only three UC opponents (Dayton, Oklahoma, Wright State) own a better national Pomeroy ranking than DePaul's 180. Guard Dion Dixon (12.8 ppg) leads a balanced Bearcats team that thrives on defense. Their opponents shoot just 37.6 percent and average 54.0 ppg. DePaul freshman power forward Cleveland Melvin is the Big East's rookie of the week after his career-high 23 points against Florida Atlantic. He and the other youthful Demons need to show more poise than their only true road game to date — the 22-point loss on Dec. 8 at Indiana State. Overall, DePaul has lost 23 straight on opponents' home courts. The program's last Big East road win came on March 6, 2008 at Cincinnati.
