Wisconsin trucker convicted of road-rage killing
A Wisconsin truck driver is facing as long as 60 years in prison for the road-rage stabbing of a fellow trucker on the side of a Chicago-area expressway.
The defendant, 49-year-old David Seddon of Racine, admitted to knifing Alan Lauritzen last Jan. 15 after they both pulled off on the Edens Expressway near Northbrook, but says he was acting in self-defense.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Seddon was convicted of first-degree murder Wednesday after a two-day trial in Cook County Circuit Court.
During his trial, Seddon testified that he only stopped because he wanted to talk to Lauritzen.
But the face-off quickly escalated, and Seddon plunged a knife into Lauritzen before driving off.
The 40-year-old Lauritzen, who was from Sparta, Wis., suffered a punctured lung and a severed aorta.
