Aurora Central plans open house

Aurora Central Catholic High School, 1255 N. Edgelawn Drive in Aurora, invites all incoming and prospective families to upcoming open houses from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 and 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5.

Families will receive a guided tour, meet teachers, faculty members, organization advisers and coaches, and learn more about the block schedule, academic programs, and guidance and college preparation.

On Thursday, Nov. 11, Aurora Central Catholic will host a very special Veterans Day celebration to honor all who have served or are currently serving in the military. Guest speaker is Chief Warrant Officer Ty Simmons, who served for eight years, active, in the Army and 28 years in the National Guard before retiring in 2006.

The ceremony will feature music and readings focusing on all branches of the armed services. Aurora Central Catholic friends and family are welcome to attend this special program. The day will begin with a continental breakfast at 7:45 a.m. in the school cafetorium followed by the Recognition Ceremony in Alumni Gymnasium. Guests may be veterans or personnel currently serving in any of the five branches of the service, the Reserves or the National Guard.
