Wolves fall 3-2 to Stars
AUSTIN, Texas -- The Chicago Wolves tied the game midway through the third period but were unable to take the lead, dropping a 3-2 decision Wednesday night to the Texas Stars at Cedar Park Center.
Center Angelo Esposito and left wing Fredrik Pettersson scored for the Wolves. Center Jason Krog dished out 2 assists.
The Wolves opened the scoring short-handed 12:02 into the second period. Esposito took a pass from Krog and ripped a shot from the left faceoff circle past Texas goaltender Brent Krahn.
Texas tied the score 37 seconds later when left wing Francis Wathier found the rebound in the paint and pushed the puck past Wolves goalie Edward Pasquale.
Forward Greg Rallo gave the Stars a 2-1 lead when he roofed one over a fallen Pasquale 2:34 into the third period.
The Wolves tied it again 8:45 into the final period on the power play when Pettersson fired a shot from the slot past Krahn.
Wathier scored the game-winner when he picked up his own rebound and put the puck through Pasquale's legs at 15:35 of the third period. Pasquale stopped 27 shots.
The Wolves travel to play the Oklahoma City Barons at the Cox Convention Center on Friday.
