King of R&B?

King of R&B?

In this age of digital music and fractured audiences, Usher remains one of the few music megastars still standing. This Grammy-winning R&B artist has sold more than 45 million records, and he doesn't seem ready to slow down. His record earlier this year, “Raymond v. Raymond,” spawned the No. 1 hit “OMG,” giving him at least one No. 1 single in each of the past three decades. He has promised a mind-blowing, state-of-the-art concert experience on his current tour, which makes a stop in the suburbs this weekend.

Usher performs with Trey Songz and Miguel at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at the Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim Road, Rosemont. Tickets cost $29.50 to $125. Go to ticketmaster.com.

Canadian crooner

Michael Bublé has scored huge hits and a devoted following with the big-band, Sinatra-inspired performances found on his breakthrough 2005 record “It's Time” and his more pop-oriented work, like his current single, “Hollywood.” He'll be crooning up a storm this weekend.

8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim Road, Rosemont. Tickets cost $49.50 to $95. Go to ticketmaster.com.

Stellar combo

The indie band Broken Bells is the collaboration between famed producer and artist Danger Mouse and James Mercer, lead singer of the Shins. Their self-titled debut record earlier this year is a beguiling mix of straight-ahead pop and offbeat sonic experiments. The band promises a follow-up, but you might not want to wait before seeing them live.

7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Vic Theatre, 3145 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago. Tickets cost $29. Go to victheatre.com.
