Huntley's Lowery chooses Hillsdale

Huntley senior Kadie Lowery will continue her basketball career at the collegiate level.

Lowery has verbally committed to play on scholarship for NCAA Division II Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich.

"I liked the school and the girls are really nice," said Lowery, a two-time Daily Herald All-Area selection. "I had a good visit and I really liked it."

Lowery, also a standout on the Red Raiders' 23-3 girls volleyball team, has been one of the more prolific 3-point shooters in Fox Valley area history. She enters her senior season with 118 career 3s, as well as 655 career points. A 5-foot-11 guard/forward, she had 39 3-pointers last season and averaged 11.1 points per game. She is also a two-time all-Fox Valley Conference selection. Lowery plays for coach Elliott Whitefield's Full Package AAU team, the same club team Bartlett's Christina Carlson, who verballed to San Jose State over the weekend, plays for.

"Hillsdale became interested in (Lowery) during her AAU season and I think it's a real nice fit for her both on the basketball side and the academic side," said Huntley coach Steve Raethz. "They're getting a player who has a lot of versatility that they'll be able to utilize in a lot of different ways.

"She'll continue to grow at the collegiate level and she'll work hard to be successful at the college level. We're looking forward to her senior season and then she's got a bright future ahead of her."

At Hillsdale, Lowery will play for eighth-year coach Claudette Charney, who has 466 career coaching wins. The Chargers, who play in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, were 14-13 overall last year and 14-8 in league play.
