Ship of state is on dangerous course

Happy Autumn.

In these days leading up to decisions regarding restructuring of our Ship of State, it's interesting to examine the makeup of the complement riding this great ship.

First, there is a cadre currently in charge of "directing" the ship's course and making changes to the framework of the Ship. Associated with these "organizers" is a crew eager to tear apart many of the timbers in the framework and replace them with components designed by foreign "ship builders."

A third group aboard is those who have provided capital and timbers which helped build and maintain the ship and who the "directors" say must provide the bulk of the "restructuring requirements" through a redistribution of assets program.

Another large group of riders is a "free-pass" assortment which contributes a pittance toward the maintenance of the ship but demands all the amenities it can glean from the "directors" because they help "select" the ship's "directors".

So, in summary, don't expect any change in direction from the "directors" and "crew" unless they "abandon ship" because it's strung up on a reef. Don't expect any change in attitude from the "free passers" unless they realize that they, also, will be paying a chunk of the "restructuring requirements" some of which already are in place.

As for the capital and timber providers, maybe they will find "alternate solutions" to remedy the "redistribution of assets" schemes which, perhaps, the current "ship's directors" haven't leveled their loose cannons on as yet.

November will be an interesting month lame duck directors or not.
