Vandals torch Arlington Heights party setup
Police are looking for vandals who set fire to a party tent and stage in the parking lot of an Arlington Heights company over the weekend.
At sometime between 11 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday, vandals set fire to decorative corn displays inside and outside a tent that was set up in the parking lot of Joseph Wiedemann Insurance Co., on the 500 block of East Golf Road, police said.
The burning displays melted the sides of the tent, which had been rented for a company party, police said.
Four propane tanks were tipped over, one of the tanks was tossed onto a stage and bales of hay were set on fire in front of the stage, police said.
Police said tables and chairs under the tent were also torched.
Authorities estimated the value of the rented items at $30,000.
No arrests have been made in the case, which remains under investigation, police said.
