Fashion show features one-of-a-kind fiber art
The Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles will present its 24th annual fashion show, “Uncommon Threads on Sunday, Oct. 17, at The Stonegate Conference and Banquet Centre in Hoffman Estates.
Representing 26 nationally recognized fiber artists from across the United States, the event begins at 10:30 a.m. with a boutique of one-of-a-kind wearable art by members of the Fine Line.
Items available for purchase in the boutique will include clothing, jewelry and unique accessories. Raffle prizes will be on display during this time.
The luncheon begins at noon and is immediately followed by the raffle.
The runway show starts at 1 p.m. and features a broad range of fiber art including handwovens, handspun, dyed, embellished, hand knit and crochet items. Runway fashions will be available for sale in the boutique after the show.
Area residents participating in the show include Connie Blieszner of St. Charles, Lynn Caldwell of Batavia, Ellen Ljung of Geneva, Louise Ioder of Elburn, Susan Waldron of Elgin, Heather Winslow of Sugar Grove and Shelly Crowley and Robin Schoenburg of Sycamore.

Tickets for the show are $55. Raffle tickets are $5 or six for $20. The “Uncommon Threads fashion show is Fine Line's largest fundraiser. Proceeds from the benefit go toward funding its diverse artistic programs.
Fine Line Creative Arts Center provides year-round classes in a wide range of media including weaving, knitting, crochet, machine knitting, dyeing, jewelry, glass, blacksmithing, pottery, painting, drawing, printmaking and papermaking.
