Thrivent Financial accused of disclosing medical details
MILWAUKEE -- A federal agency accuses an Appleton nonprofit of violating a temporary employee's rights by disclosing confidential details about his medical history.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced a lawsuit Thursday against Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Thrivent's website says the organization provides financial services. A message left with the company after hours Thursday was not immediately returned.
The EEOC says Thrivent violated the Americans with Disabilities Act when it inquired about the man's medical condition, and then revealed to prospective employers that he suffers from migraine headaches. The EEOC says the disclosure hindered the man's ability to find work.
The EEOC says its lawsuit seeks back pay plus damages.
