Scouting Timothy Christian girls basketball

Timothy Christian

Coach: Ryan DeKoekkoek

Last year: 12-15, 5-5 in Metro Suburban Conference; lost to Immaculate Conception 57-38 in Class 2A Immaculate Conception regional semifinal.

Top players: Kari LeGrand, sr., G; Jordyn Platt, sr., G; Cassidy Block, jr., G; Anna Wondergem, sr., F; Renata Harris, sr., F.

Scouting report: The pieces are in place for the Trojans to make a run at a winning record and second regional championship in three years. Timothy Christian’s three leading scorers LeGrand, Platt and Block are all back. Block is the Trojans’ most versatile player with the ability to take defenders off the dribble, or post up. DeKoekkoek said LeGrand brings “phenomenal leadership.” Hard-nosed, competitive Platt brings an intensity that makes other girls step up to the challenge. Bosman at 5-foot-11 played JV last year; the Trojans’ tallest player brings a post presence lacking last year. DeKoekkoek hopes his team can crack the top three in a conference that got a little more rugged with the addition of Glenbard South.
