Batavia library tax rate up for discussion
The finance committee of the Batavia Public Library is going to talk about adding 2 cents to its property tax rate Tuesday.
It has scheduled a special meeting for 7 p.m. at the library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.
The additional tax rate the Batavia library finance committee is going to talk about Tuesday is, it seems, an annual routine matter.
Library Trustee Doug Sullivan, a member of the committee, said Saturday that the board levies the 2 cents every year, and that it is called an "additional" tax levy because it is in addition to the corporate levy. The corporate levy, the library's biggest, is used to pay for salaries, materials and the like.
This levy pays for equipment, and maintaining, repairing and altering the library and the equipment.
