Naperville residents deserve a voice

I am one of the fortunate Naperville City Council candidates whose name will appear on the ballot. I feel for the four unfortunate “Naperville City Council candidates to be” who were unable to get their nominating petitions and candidacy certified to have their name placed on the ballot for the April 5 election due to a filing technicality.

The city clerk suggested that individuals seek competent legal advice. Please don't misunderstand me. I am a stickler when it comes to detail, and one could argue that the law is the law.

Under the circumstances, I hope that the authorities will consider the intent of these individuals and that of the residents that signed their nominating petitions to put them on the ballot. It is all about giving Naperville residents a voice.
