Illegal immigrants wasting court time?
While being an observer in the courtroom at the Elgin judicial center I was genuinely surprised and dismayed to see all the defendants that have to have a Spanish interpreter provided to them. The judge had to repeat his speech slowly in English and then wait for acknowledgment. This took up an inordinate amount of time and energy.
The judge was very patient and explained in detail all the charges to the defendants. But I ask how many of these folks are here legally?
How many resources are being utilized in the legal processing of these defendants? There is something fundamentally wrong with this picture. Sooner or later we as a nation will have to address the immigration issue. And the longer we wait the worse it will become.
