Metra Northwest line delayed after train hits pedestrian

Metra trains on the Union Pacific Northwest Line were delayed for about an hour after a pedestrian accident, Metra officials confirmed.

A pedestrian was struck by the number 646 Metra commuter train headed inbound from Harvard at approximately 3 p.m. between the Norwood Park and Gladstone Park stations in Chicago, Metra officials said.

The train was stopped at the scene while crews conducted an investigation, and is now running about 60 minutes late, Metra officials said.

The accident delayed a second inbound train that was stopped behind the train involved in the accident for approximately 20 minutes. A third train, headed outbound, was also delayed.
