Man attempts to rob Bartlett shop with knife
Bartlett police are looking for a man who fled a tobacco shop after attempting to rob the store at knifepoint Monday night.
Police responded to the shop on the 1000 block of Stearns Road, just east of Route 59, at 7:15 p.m. Monday.
The would-be thief walked into the shop, displayed a small knife and told the clerk, “I want the money, said Bartlett police Cmdr. Michael McGuigan.
The clerk responded by throwing two metal candle holders at the man, which was enough to make him flee the shop, McGuigan said.
The would-be thief, a white man, drove off north on Route 59 in a dark blue, older model, two-door vehicle, McGuigan said.
No one was injured, and nothing was taken from the shop.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at (630) 837-0846.
