Arlington Heights
• Efrain Carreno, 28, of the 2500 block of Spaulding, Chicago, was arrested around 2:50 a.m. Oct. 10 at Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway and charged with felonies driving under the influence of alcohol, obstructing ID, driving while license revoked, no insurance and misdemeaners transportation of open alcohol and traffic violations. He was previously convicted for not having a driver's license and twice for driving under the influence of alcohol, reports said. His court date is Nov. 23.
• Offenders burglarized five unlocked cars on the 100 block of South Burton Place between 12:30 and 6:15 a.m. Oct. 10 and stole a wallet, radar detector and GPS out of a 2010 Subaru Impreza, loose change out of a 2001 Honda Accord and 1997 Nissan Sentra, a converter box out of a 2002 Toyota Highlander, and sunglasses out of a 2002 Ford Explorer. Total value was estimated at $1,167.
• Vandals hurled a full can of soda that exploded on the front driver's-side fender of a 2005 Subaru 360 in a driveway on the 800 block of West Hintz Road between midnight and 6 a.m. Oct. 10. Damage was estimated at $1,500.
• Stephanie A. Kuhns, 22, of the 24200 block of Marydale, Lake Zurich, was arrested around 6:15 p.m. Oct. 10 at Kohl's, 800 W. Dundee Road, and charged with retail theft. Reports said she took seven pairs of women's underwear and a pair of boots. She hid the underwear and her shoes in her purse and wore the boots. Total value was estimated at $116. Her court date is Nov. 18.
Barrington
• Raymond F. Wertz, 18, of the 25400 block of Nroth Barsumian, Tower Lakes, was arrested around 11:25 p.m. Oct. 9 at 20th and Route 14 and charged with possession of marijuana. His court date is Oct. 26.
Buffalo Grove
• Vandals damaged a construction trailer on the 2100 block of Apple Hill Lane by removing the door knob between 5 p.m. Oct. 5 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 6.
• Vandals used a black market to write graffiti on a metal picnic table under the shelter in Mike Rylko Park, 1000 N. Buffalo Grove around 8 a.m. Oct. 5.
• Vandals scratched the rear driver's-side fender on a car in a daycare lot, 1141 N. Arlington Heights Road, around 5:15 p.m. Oct. 4.
• Thieves stole a cell phone valued at $170 at Kilmer School, 655 Golfview Terrace, around 5 p.m. Sept. 27 while the male victim was playing basketball.
• Firefighters put out a fire in the kitchen at a home on the 600 block of West Thompson Boulevard around 9 p.m. Oct. 4. Officers responded to a report of a house fire and could see flames coming from the kitchen area as they arrived. Fire personnel doused the blaze. The female resident returned home from shopping to find the fire in the kitchen, which she attempted unsuccessfully to put out by smothering the blaze with a coat.
• Firefighters doused a fire in garbage placed at the curb on the 1300 block of Devonshire Road around 9 p.m. Oct. 4. The resident stated that no one in the house smokes and he did not place any smoldering items or recently burnt items into the garbage. The curbside mailbox was a total loss.
