Take a lesson from Japanese tourists
During our two trips to Hawaii, my wife and I have toured and/or stayed on all the inhabited islands. In hotels, restaurants and retail establishments, and on beaches, land tours and boat excursions, we saw many, many Japanese tourists.
At the Pearl Harbor memorial site and on the shuttle boat to the sunken hull of the USS Arizona were the only places we did not see Japanese tourists. Their individual reasons for this decision should be their own and not be questioned by others.
The Japanese are an intelligent people, sensitive to others' thoughts and feelings, and are very capable of profound thinking. Perhaps New York City Muslims, and the issue of their mosque location, could emulate the behavior and thinking of the Japanese people.
