Move brings end to flooding woes

I read Patrick Cleary's Oct. 9 letter, and he was right on. I lived in Wheaton and when we had flooding problems, it also included waste matter. Enough said. The city council always had the same response, “It was a hundred years rain.”

City Manager Donald Rose said the rain water never entered the waste drainage so we were made to believe that the residents of Wheaton relieved themselves much more when it was raining.

Most people in the western suburbs look forward to a nice rain but not where I lived in Wheaton. I can remember being in church during a particularly heavy rain wondering what the condition of my home was. I now live in Naperville, and they have retention ponds. Several years ago we had an uncommon 17 inches rain and we did not have one drop of water in our home. Guess the good citizens of Naperville don't go to the bathroom until well after the rain stops.
