Suburbs deserve some attention
I enjoyed Kristen Menke's story and your editorial, “It's been a big new year in suburbs.” For the past 40 years, the Chicago suburbs have been the economic, educational excellence and innovative engine of Illinois.
So it's heartening to see Chicago suburbanites gain national recognition in 2009. The beleaguered state of Illinois sure could use more than just one statewide elected official (Judy Baar Topinka) coming from our region.
