Big Ten honors 2 Illini after win over Penn State
CHAMPAIGN -- The Big Ten has honored two Illinois players after the Illini's 33-13 upset win at Penn State.
Kicker Derek Dimke was named the conference's co-special teams player of the week on Monday. The junior from Rockford hit four field goals Saturday in the win over Penn State, including a 50-yarder.
Dimke shared the honor with Purdue defensive tackle Kawann Short. The East Chicago native blocked a field goal in the Boilermakers' win over Northwestern.
The Big Ten also named Illinois quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase (sheel-HOWS') its freshman of the week for the second time this season. Scheelhaase was 15-19 passing for 151 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the ball eight times for 61 yards against Penn State.
