Elgin teen shot in hand

Police are investigating Elgin's second gang shooting in 11 days.

An Elgin teen is in good condition after being shot in the hand late Wednesday, police officials confirmed.

Police spokeswoman Sue Olafson said the shooting of the 17-year-old took place at about 10:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of Concord Avenue.

He was taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin where he was last listed in good condition.

Olafson said the shooting appears to be gang related, adding that police are still investigating.

Two man have been charged in the Oct. 11 shooting of a 15-year-old in the arm. The teen, who was riding his bike when men in vehicle approached him and began flashing gang signs, has been released from the hospital.
