Libertyville man gets supervision in gun incident
A Libertyville man was placed on court supervision for the next year Monday after admitting he shot a gun outside of his home after neighbors complained about his loud party.
Manocha Nakanant, 29, if the 200 block of Harding Avenue, will have his conviction for misdemeanor attempted reckless discharge of a firearm erased if he completes the year of court supervision without further violations of the law.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Dan Kleinhubert said police arrested Nakanant last month after he fired the shots because of a complaint made about a party at his residence. No one was struck by the bullets and they did not damage any property.
Police responding to the shots seized a handgun and a rifle, both of which will be destroyed as part of Monday's plea deal.
Associate Judge Helen Rozenberg also ordered Nakanant to donate $500 to Lake County Crime Stoppers and undergo a substance abuse evaluation as part of his sentence.
