Billboards a danger to drivers on I-294

To the villages of Franklin Park and North Lake:

I would like to thank you for your bad judgment and for slowing down traffic on I-294. Those of you who drive this stretch of road know what I'm talking about. The billboards every 500 feet, 400 feet, 300 feet, lining the road, cause bad delays every day.

This is not the only highway where this happens. In areas where there are no billboards or high-tech electronic signs that change, traffic moves along at the speed limit. Whoever had the bright idea to put them up most likely did not think about the traffic jams and accidents these signs cause.

To any other cities proposing to put up these roadway distractions, I bet there are lawyers out there who would love to file suit against the towns that allow them for causing accidents. We have laws against texting while driving and many other laws to protect our lives. So why can't we ban these billboards and electronic signs on our roadways? Hasn't anyone else put two and two together?

In the '70s there was a song that said, "Signs, signs everywhere a sign." These high-tech advertising signs need to be removed to protect all drivers. Better judgment is needed.
