Two units damaged in Bartlett apartment fire

Residents at a Bartlett apartment complex were evacuated early Wednesday afternoon as a fire left two of the building's units uninhabitable.

The fire broke out just before noon on the third floor of the Bartlett Lakes Apartments, located on the 500 block of Deer Park Circle, according to the Bartlett Fire Department.

The first crews on the scene found smoke billowing out of a third-story window of the four-story building. The fire was able to get between a wall that separated two units, which crews had to take out, said Bartlett Battalion Chief Mike Clarke.

No one was injured during the fire, Clarke said.

Thirty-eight firefighters responded to the blaze, with crews from Algonquin, Carpentersville, South Elgin, Streamwood, Hanover Park and Carol Stream assisting.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
