Geneva, Marmion both lose to pair of 7-1 teams

In its first game at the Plainfield North Holiday Tournament, Geneva held a slim lead over the host team in the middle of the third quarter before Plainfield North pulled away to a 57-42 victory.

Leading 25-24, Geneva had three possessions to try to expand its lead, but was unable to. Plainfield North (7-1) closed the third quarter on a 14-2 run.

Will Doeckel scored a team-high 10 points and hit the sole 3-pointer for Geneva, which dropped to 4-5 on the season.

The Vikings play Lockport, a 47-44 winner Tuesday over Lincoln-Way North, at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

Nazareth 55, Marmion 45: Behind Ryan Powers' game-high 26 points Nazareth (7-1) won the nonconference game in LaGrange Park. Marmion (3-4) was led by Eddy Grahovec's 21 points, and 11 from Nick Scoliere.
