Foster already has checked out

I recently attempted to send a letter to outgoing Congressman Bill Foster's website, but was greeted by this message: “Office is closing. Due to the imminent closure of our office, some services are suspended.”

Apparently, Mr. Foster no longer wishes to hear from his constituents during his last month in office as the representative for Illinois' 14th Congressional District. I am not surprised.

Dear Congressman Foster: You still don't get it, do you? Even after we voters of the 14th Congressional District of Illinois rejected you on Nov. 2 after only one term in office because of your repeated failures to represent our positions on major national issues, you continue to vote against our best interests during the “lame duck” session of this, your last Congress. Why are you and the other Pelosi Democrats playing “class warfare” games by failing to extend all of President Bush's tax cuts at a time of rising unemployment during one of the worst economic recessions in American history? Your vote in favor of extending only the so-called “middle class” tax breaks is petty politics and not in the best interests of job creation within our country.

Ideally, elected officials should listen to their constituents, placing their interests ahead of those of a political party. You didn't. That's why you lost your re-election attempt. You still haven't learned. While I am encouraged by the fact that as of Jan. 3 you will no longer be able to harm our nation as a congressman, your dogsbody devotion to Ms. Pelosi's agenda may result in a possible ambassadorship. If such an appointment were to occur, hopefully it would be to a country where you can do us no other type of harm.
