Have opinion on slots at track? Voice it!
This letter is in response to the letter titled: “All have a stake in track's future”, dated Nov. 7, 2010 in the Daily Herald.
The title of this letter says it all. If the people of Arlington Heights want casinos at the racetrack, they need to get involved by contacting their state representatives and voicing their opinions on the matter in any way possible.
If the people of Arlington Heights do NOT want casinos at the racetrack, they too, should contact their state representatives and voice their opinions in any way possible.
Too often the public is uninvolved in important community decisions and would rather their local representatives and/or state representatives manage and decide on issues affecting the community as a whole. The issue of casinos at the racetrack is one that affects the entire community that constitutes Arlington Heights.
The people need to get involved in order to ensure the results they desire. The Douglas County Commissioner illustrates, in this article, just what happens when the community is involved in the process. Even if the resulting decision is undesirable to some, at least that result is a reflection of the opinions and voices of the people in the community.
