Newcomer named in Kane County board race
Leaders of the Dundee Township Republican Party have selected a fresh face to represent them in the race for the Kane County Board District 21 seat at the November 2 election.
Timothy Haley, 47, of West Dundee was unanimously elected over the weekend to replace incumbent John Fahy, who removed his name from the ballot last week.
"It is a great opportunity to give back to the community and represent the area that I call home," Haley said. "I am excited. I have donated my time and efforts to the community and shared my concerns. I look forward to taking the next step."
Haley will face Democratic candidate Joseph Haimann on Nov. 5 to represent District 21 on the Kane County Board. The district includes parts of Carpentersville, East Dundee and West Dundee.
Haley has served on numerous committees in West Dundee, including planning and zoning and parks and redevelopment. He has also coordinated the Dickens in Dundee parade since 2006 and volunteered at Heritage Fest for 12 years.
Supporters say Haley, who is currently secretary of the Dundee Township Republican Organization, will bring a fresh perspective to the county board.
"I feel like Tim has the right attitude to get some new life into our area and he has been a great help with the committee," said Gloria Van Cleave, a Dundee Township Republican Precinct Committeeman. "He seems to have the right attitude, and has the time and energy to do a good job."
Precinct Committeeman Larry Braasch said the organization's unanimous vote was indicative of the group's desire for Haley to lead them into the future.
"We need some new young blood. Some new ideas," Braasch said. "John was a very good board member and I hope Tim does well at it."
Fahy said additional responsibilities related to his promotion to captain in the Elgin Fire Department forced him to withdraw from the race.
