Good government finds efficiencies
Have you seen any specific evidence of cutting costs of any program that exists now in the U.S. economy?
I hear no one who can cite details where actual programs are being pursued where less is being spent to do the same job as before. Many jobs in the country need to be changed in this way.
When you talk about compromise, you are tap dancing until you have the guts to actually rid the government of some employees to do the job with less people than were formerly used to do it. This test must be applied to every area in the government.
Our senators and representatives may not like this, but it is a necessary part of leadership. It takes leadership to find ways to operate less expensively, but it is the most vital function our representatives perform.
Is it any wonder that Congress is so powerless to show a profitable bottom line? Congress is bought and paid for by the lobbyists working for various industries. The lobbyists get their orders and tell Congress what to vote for. Politicians don't know how to bring in people from private industry and reorganize various areas in the government to be run profitably.
It takes real leaders to show the guts to step into a government operation and direct the release of some people from their jobs because the payroll is too heavy. With these situations staring them in their collective face, is it any wonder that the Congress is rated favorably by just 13 percent in the latest poll I have seen?
