Woods and Mickelson in same group today
An old rivalry takes place in Chicago today.
Bears vs. Lions?
Yes. But Tiger vs. Phil might be a better Sunday matchup on grass to watch.
Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are scheduled to go off tee No. 1 at Cog Hill at 10:56 a.m. today - about an hour before the Bears-Lions season opener at Soldier Field. While Woods and Mickelson are both at even par, 8 shots behind leader Ryan Moore, after three rounds in the BMW Championship, both players have had their typical large galleries following them around Dubsdread's track.
"I'd like to just get a low round," said Mickelson, who's shot rounds of 72, 71 and 70. "I've hit a lot of good shots this week and I just haven't gotten a good score out of it. I'd like to just get a good round to give me some momentum."
More Sunday viewing: "Fairway to the Future," a 30-minute documentary on the Evans Scholars program produced by BMW, will air on NBC TV at 12:30 p.m. today, leading into the network's final-round coverage of the BMW Championship.
BMW donates all proceeds from the championship to the Evans Scholars Foundation, which provides full college tuition and housing scholarships to deserving young caddies.
"We appreciate BMW's continuing interest in, and enthusiastic backing of, the Evans Scholars Program," said John Kaczkowski, Western Golf Association president and CEO. "BMW's production of this documentary is just another example of how our partnership extends well beyond the golf course."
Nice shot: Matthew Sachaj had to be even more thrilled than Sean O'Hair after O'Hair aced the par-3 second hole Saturday.
The hole-in-one secured a four-year college scholarship for Sachaj, who's an Evans Scholar. Sachaj, of Des Plaines, is an incoming freshman at Northwestern.
