We've learned little from the election
Thank goodness the election is over and we can now go back to watching TV without muting the disgusting political commercials. Some $3 billion was spent on these ads, and nobody learned anything. The money would have been better spent on schools to educate children about government and make them better voters than their parents.
I cringe at the thought of other countries seeing these ads and wondering which alleged despicable candidate we elected to office to govern us. A British friend who lived 10 years in the U.S. once said to me, “I don't want to insult you but I believe Americans are overeducated dunces.” I replied I was not insulted and the recent political campaign confirms my answer.
The only thing good that came of this election was “The Rally to Restore Sanity.” The rally was a success, but its goal was not achieved because the next election will be just as deplorable if not worse. In terms of the electoral process our country has become a Third World nation and will remain so until voters wake up, stop listening to sound bites, and start to inform themselves. Enjoy the next 15 months of TV (if that long) because the infantile ads will start all over again.
