Palatine teens sentenced to probation for burglarizing cars

Two Palatine teenagers who police say were caught in the act of burglarizing several unlocked cars last summer will spend the next two years on felony probation, required to adhere to a curfew and perform community service.

Edward Caley, 18, and David Bourbon, 18, pleaded guilty to the charges earlier this week in a Rolling Meadows courtroom. They will be subject to a 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew, random drug tests and will each be responsible for $665 in fines. They must also perform 30 days of community service and will be evaluated by Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities (TASC), an organization that assists people with substance abuse and mental health issues.

Palatine police responded to a call about individuals entering cars in the 400 and 500 blocks of West Creekwood Drive in the early morning hours of Aug. 4. They arrested Caley, of the 400 block of Creekwood Drive, and Bourbon, of the 1300 block of Joan Drive, who admitted entering unlocked vehicles, two of which were parked in an open garage. Stolen items included an iPhone and an iPod, police said.
