Hoffman man gets 2 years for cocaine possession
A Cook County judge sentenced a 23-year-old Hoffman Estates man to prison for two years in exchange for his guilty plea for possession of a controlled substance.
Simon Chagoya-Cercado pleaded guilty last month after prosecutors reduced the charge from a class X felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison to a class 4 felony, punishable by up to three years in prison.
Authorities say Chagoya-Cercado, of the 700 block of N. Salem Drive, sold 1.7 grams of a substance that field tested positive for cocaine to an undercover officer in early September.
Chagoya-Cercado received credit for 77 days in custody and was fined $1,245.
