Obama has done plenty
Mr. Chuck Barr of St. Charles recently wrote a Fence Post letter headlined “Obama has done nothing so far.”
Let's see, in two years President Obama has saved the U.S. auto industry. GM, a great American institution, was rescued from bankruptcy and just recently began selling stock again. The president has saved the U.S. financial industry, a banking system that has shown itself unable to take care of itself. He has passed sweeping health care reform that promises to get insurance to those who need it and allows those that already have it to keep it, even when insurance companies would rather cut their losses. He has begun massive repair to our infrastructure, as seen in numerous roadwork projects. He is working on the START nuclear treaty with Russia, a treaty that will make the world a safer place if the Senate ratifies it. He is working to get our troops home from both Iraq and Afghanistan, places where they never should have been in the first place.
I'd list his many more achievements but the Herald prefers short editorials. Oh, yes, President Obama also won the Nobel Peace Prize within months of being elected, one of only three sitting presidents to have ever achieved that great accolade.
Next time you write to the paper, Mr. Barr, I suggest you read the paper beforehand, so you know what you're talking about.
