Rolling Meadows man struck on Dan Ryan

A Rolling Meadows man died early Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle on the Dan Ryan Expressway after exiting his car, state police said.

The 24-year-old man got out of his vehicle in the southbound lanes near 69th Street at about 2:15 a.m., an Illinois State Police trooper said.

He then crossed over into the northbound traffic, walked out into traffic and was struck by a vehicle, police said.

A Sunday autopsy revealed that the man died of multiple injuries from the crash and the Cook County medical examiner's office has ruled the death a suicide.

Police said no citations have been issued to the driver of the vehicle that struck the man.
