Edgar endorses Brady for Ill. governor
Republican Bill Brady has earned a high-profile endorsement in the race for Illinois governor.
Brady was endorsed Tuesday by popular former Republican Gov. Jim Edgar, who served two terms.
In a statement, Edgar called Brady the most qualified to change "reckless fiscal attitudes" in Springfield.
Edgar and Brady haven't always been in step on budget issues.
Edgar has criticized Brady for appearing to back across-the-board spending cuts, which Edgar says would be unrealistic.
Edgar says far deeper cuts may be necessary and that voters eventually may support raising taxes, although Brady firmly rejects any tax increase.
