Choir to perform Christmas favorites at Techny

The 130 voices of Chicago Master Singers, under the direction of Alan Heatherington, will present their annual Christmas concert accompanied by the Ars Viva String Orchestra.

The concerts will be held on Friday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 12, in the beautiful Chapel of the Holy Spirit at the Society of the Divine Word in Techny. The performances start at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 7 p.m. on Sunday.

The concert will begin with the traditional processional “Once in Royal David's City” and end with the festive and familiar hymn, “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” Audiences will hear beautiful arrangements of familiar carols by beloved composers such as John Rutter and Sir David Willcocks as well as some rare gems by less familiar composers.

“Many longtime subscribers tell me their celebration of the Christmas season starts with the CMS Christmas concert,” said Sharon Starr, singer and board member of Chicago Master Singers. “It has become an important part of their family traditions.”

CMS is an auditioned chorus that has delighted audiences in the Chicago area and on tour in Europe with performances of the great choral masterworks, in collaboration with professional soloists and orchestras, since 1979.

The concert venue is at Techny Towers, 2001 Waukegan Road, just north of Willow Road, in Techny. Techny is between Northbrook and Glenview.

Both general and preferred seating tickets are available. Advance reservations are recommended. Ticket prices are $48 for preferred seating, $38 for general seating and $28 for side seating. Discounts on general seating tickets are available for seniors and students.
