NU hires assistant golf coach

Northwestern has hired three-time collegiate all-American and former Walker Cup player David Inglis as the Wildcats' assistant men's golf coach.

"His experience and success as a collegiate player and as a professional golfer will be extremely beneficial to our student-athletes," NU head coach Pat Goss said in a statement released Monday. "David also has a great understanding of what it takes to be successful at Northwestern, and we are looking forward to the positive impact he will undoubtedly have."

Inglis succeeds Steve Bailey, who left Northwestern in July after five seasons to become the head coach at Marquette. Inglis, a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, was a four-time champion of the Western Athletic Conference and three-time all-American from 2000-04 at Tulsa. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2004.

Inglis turned professional in 2004, competing on the European Tour, the Challenge Tour and several Mini Tours.
