Small fire in Arlington Heights balcony

A fire contained to a balcony in a condominium complex on the 2400 block of Goebbert Road in Arlington Heights Tuesday morning appears to have been electrical, fire officials said.

The source was the motor area of a small freezer kept outdoors on the balcony. The fire was put out minutes after the fire department was called to the Ashton Condominiums at 9:37 a.m., said Arlington Heights Deputy Fire Chief Ken Koeppen.

There were no injuries, he said.

The fire caused approximately $4,000 in damage to the balcony.
