Bikers are part of driving community

Dear Bill Bliley (Fence Post, Aug. 28) and all non-bikers: Thank you for watching out for out fragile bodies while you are taking your time on your way home at night. We do appreciate you.

Because it's dangerous out there with some people late, in a rush, on a cell, texting etc. We bikers all are part of your community, too, and have cars and trucks like you. We choose to ride at a professional level on the road to stay in shape. We stop at lights and stay in 1 lane.

People who have never biked or been an endurance athlete may not understand why we are out there three to four times a week for two to three hours at a time biking on the side of the road. Think of it like your son is part of our team riding every other day with us from Wheaton to St Charles.

How would you like other motorists to act toward him. All you have to do is lead by example and be kind to bikers as you would to runners or walkers. Why not even join us? It's a terrific stress reducer and keeps you in shape at the same time.

We are all connected on this fragile planet earth and breath the same air. We'll continue to ride and respect the rules of the road. Please make a little room in your heart for your 2-wheeled friends, neighbors and possibly family members.
