Hospital offers free prostrate screenings

A free prostate cancer screening and discussion will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, 77 N. Airlite St., Elgin.

One man in six will get prostate cancer during his lifetime, and one man in 35 will die of this disease.

Come to hospital's Bob & Edna Meadows Regional Cancer Care Center for a free screening and program about prostate cancer.

In the "Man-to-Man Talk," there will be an informational discussion, presented by Dr. David Suh, a radiation oncologist.

There will be two sessions, at 9 and 10 a.m.

The PSA test measures the level of PSA in the blood. It is just one screening for prostate cancer. There are several different reasons for an elevated PSA level, including prostate cancer, benign prostate enlargement, inflammation and infection. Your confidential results will be sent to you.
