Police: Prospect Heights man found dead by roommate

Prospect Heights Police are conducting a death investigation after a man in his early 30s was found dead in his apartment early Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Pedro Soriano-Sanchez, 32, was found dead inside his one-bedroom Prospect Heights apartment by one of his roommates at approximately 12:18 p.m. Sunday, said officials from the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

An autopsy is taking place Monday morning, thought the results of the autopsy will not be known until Monday afternoon, officials said.

The cause of death is being withheld by the medical examiners office, officials said.

Prospect Heights Fire District units were turned away from the scene by police shortly after arriving as the area was designated a crime scene Sunday, according to a fire department official.

Neighbors said the man lived in the apartment on the 700 block of Piper Lane with two male roommates and a young boy around 3 years old.

Neighbors in the three story building said the men had moved in within the past three months.

The first-floor apartment unit was closed off Sunday night with the sheets and pillows removed from a bed as the investigation continued.

Police said they are considering the matter a “death investigation” until autopsy results are available.
