Frazier joins Illini staff as grad assistant

CHAMPAIGN -- Former Illinois guard Chester Frazier has rejoined the team as a graduate assistant.

In a news release Tuesday, the team says Frazier will be a grad assistant and team video coordinator after enrolling in a master's degree program in educational policy studies.

Illinois coach Bruce Weber welcomed back a player known for his ability to play through numerous injuries.

Weber says Frazier won't coach in his new role but hopes someday to be a coach.

Frazier spent last season playing in Germany. He played for Illinois from 2006-2009. He played in 125 games, started 88 of those and was a two-time team captain.
