Reboletti must explain texting vote

Thank you for your Aug. 19 editorial, "Get off the phone while in school zones." The editorial is a great reminder that our children's safety should never be compromised. Year after year we see senseless incidents caused by a driver's inattention.

We live across the street from an elementary school and are constantly concerned about the inattention of drivers distracted by their phones and other electronic devices.

The vast majority of residents would agree that this is a good law that will prevent tragedies from occurring. One person who does not feel this way is state Rep. Dennis Reboletti, who voted "no." Evidently, he feels that texting and talking on a cell phone is more important than our children's safety.

Dennis Reboletti may not know or understand this, but he works for us, we elected him, we pay his salary. He owes his constituents an explanation why he voted against this measure.
