Tour Stevenson's house:You can tour the restored former home of the late Adlai E. Stevenson II on Aug. 21. The former governor and ambassador's home is now owned by the Lake County Forest Preserve District. Tours are set for 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the property, which is on St. Mary's Road south of Route 60 in Mettawa. Admission is $3 for Lake County residents or $5 for anyone else. This year, the queens chose to raise money for Danny Gardner, a local boy who is fighting Leukemia.Dog wash:Our House of Hope K9 Rescue will hold its annual dog wash from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 at Pet's General Store, 432 Peterson Road, Libertyville. The dog wash is an indoor event that includes a bath, quick dry, brush out and bandanna/cologne. No appointment is needed and all socialized and well-behaved dogs with current vaccines are welcome.
