Giannoulias gets retired general's nod for Senate

Democratic Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias has picked up a top military endorsement from retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark.

Clark was the former supreme commander of NATO and a 2004 Democratic presidential candidate. He's been an advocate for renewable energy.

Clark calls America's dependence on foreign oil a "national disgrace." He says the focus should be on creating green jobs.

Giannoulias and Clark spoke to reporters Monday at a Carbon Day Automotive location in Chicago. The company runs charging stations for electric cars.

Giannoulias' Republican opponent, Mark Kirk, is an intelligence officer in the U.S. Naval Reserves. And Clark says Kirk's admitted embellishment of his military record is a factor in the race that will affect voters.
