Your news: Karate is all in the family
On July 11, Emily and Adam Morgan of Palatine competed in Greenville, S.C., at the National Karate Tournament and U.S. Team trials for the Junior Pan American games in Montreal, Canada.
Emily, 15, a sophomore and Adam, 17, a senior, both at Palatine High School, have been involved with Illinois Shotokan Karate Clubs since the age of 6 instructed by Sensei John DiPasquale. They are also current members of the United States Karate Federation.
Despite injuries, both Morgans competed very well. Emily earned a bronze medal in U.S. Team trials and is an alternate for the U.S. Team for the Pan-American games.
The Morgans are both first degree black belts and have been competing locally and nationally for years. They have also competed at the Junior Olympics for the last three years.
