Learn how to improve 'elevator speech' at Batavia presentation

Bring your business to center stage with tips you'll learn at August presentations sponsored by Batavia Chamber of Commerce.

The events include the Batavia Women in Business Luncheon on Tuesday, Aug. 10, as well as a presentation by Steve Black, representing Brian Tracy Programs, on Tuesday, Aug. 17.

Work on giving your 60-second elevator speech star quality at the Women in Business luncheon, under the direction of Ellen Lerner of Dramatic Solutions Inc., an actress and certified life coach.

The meeting will be held at Eagle Brook Country Club, 2288 Fargo Blvd., Geneva. Cost is $25, $30 for nonmembers and guests. Preregistration for the luncheon, which begins at 11:30 a.m., is necessary by Sunday, Aug. 8; visit bataviachamber.org or call (630) 879-7134.

Attendees at the luncheon are also requested to give generously to the Batavia Clothes Closet. In memory of Mildred Bailey, who died July 13, Women in Business is collecting clothing appropriate for back to school, and/or gift cards. The longtime Batavia resident was a driving force behind the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and Batavia Clothes Closet. The Clothes Closet is in need of gift cards for Kohl's, Target and Walmart so clients can purchase shoes and underwear for their children. All donations will be transported by members to the Batavia Clothes Closet.

On Tuesday, Aug. 17, Steve Black's interactive presentation will help boost your business' sales.

His presentation will focus on finding and closing dramatically more sales, without drastically increasing your workload. The meeting will be held at 8 a.m. at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave. There is no charge for the event; sign up to attend online at bataviachamber.org by Sunday, Aug. 15, or call (630) 879-7134.

After Black's presentation motivates participants to build their sales, discussion will move to recreating the chamber's Networking Group. Building on what was just learned; bring your ideas and ingenuity to re-energize this regular Tuesday morning group. The goal is to put together an innovative group that will help each other's businesses shine and thrive through 2010 and beyond.

Call the Batavia Chamber of Commerce at (630) 879-7134 or visit bataviachamber.org for details about the August events and to register.
