Car burglars strike 2 Sugar Grove neighborhoods

Sugar Grove police said Tuesday they continue to investigate a rash of car burglaries in the Windstone and Black Walnut Trails subdivisions on the village's northeast side.

It appears the seven incidents took place in the early-morning hours Friday. All but one vehicle were unlocked.

Items taken included iPods, cellular phones, GPS devices, chargers, wallets and loose change.

Police remind motorists to lock their vehicles, even when the vehicles are parked in a driveway, and to stop leaving valuable items in plain sight. Thieves "car hop," going down a street checking for unlocked vehicles. Owners often don't notice anything is missing for several days, according to the notice from the department.

No arrests have been made as of early Tuesday, police said.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in that area late last week is asked to call the police at (630) 466-4526, ext. 37.
